Card Holder Accordion-Style

I came up with this design in my head last night after trying to come up with another way to hold cards. Well, this is what I came up with today. I decided to use the Time Well Spent set because I haven't really used that set yet and I feel like I should start using my sets before they retire! Here are some side view pictures so you can see how it's sort of like an accordion file folder. I used two large sized envelopes, sealed them both closed, and trimmed 1 inch off one side of each. Glue together the upper center of each envelope on the sides where the flaps are... a square inch in size will do. That makes the accordion holders for the cards and the standard size envelopes.
The rest is pretty much self explanatory. You can use whichever stamp set and whichever color combination you want for this project. If you have any questions, please email me. Thanks for looking!

The Bride's All That

I found out just yesterday what set I was to use for the swap I'm participating in -- and it's due Monday!! So, last night I was trying to figure out a design for the set "She's All That" and this is what I came up with. I was a bit nervous because I've never embossed on acetate before, but I wanted the bride to sparkle. With a lot of care, it worked okay. There was a bit of warping, but not enough to really notice. Below is a close-up so you can see the Iridescent Ice EP better. Stamps: She's All That, Baroque Background
Inks: Soft Sky, Close to Cocoa, White StazOn
Papers:Whisper White, Soft Sky, Mulberry White, Acetate Sheets
Accessories: Ice Circles Brads, Iridescent Ice EP, Heat Tool, Window Punch, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, White Tafetta Ribbon, 1/8" Round Punch

Lola Album

This was such a fun project and fairly easy and very inexpensive. Can you believe I got these albums at clearance for 3 for $4.98? Of course it was from good old Target. It measures 4-1/2" x 6" and has 30 pages of 4x6 photo inserts. I'm planning to give this to my sister who has two gorgeous grandkids. The name "Lola" is what they call her, which is grandmother in Filipino. The only stamping I did in this project was with the One of a Kind stamp set using versamark.

Always Wonderful

I saw a picture of a card with a strip of acetate running down the front side and I wish I knew who it was so I could give credit to that person! I thought it was very creative and thought I'd CASE it. So here's my version. I know when I show it to my kids today they'll probably say something like, it's too girly for Dad! Oh, well... I tried by making it gray, at least.

The set is Always (love that new set), Baroque Motif, Wonderful Favorites.

Always Clear

Here's a Valentine's Day card I made especially for a friend of mine. It's made with an acetate sheet (overhead projector transparency sheet). This is really my first try at making a transparent card and it wasn't so hard after all. Recipe here.

Perfectly Centered Cuttlebugged Window

Last week I bought a box of acetate sheets (transparencies for overhead projectors) to see what fun things I could do with them. The first thing I thought of, besides making acetate cards, was to see if they would work in my Cuttlebug. The result was beautiful, as you can see from the picture above. Now, I've only used it with the smaller folders. I'll have to see how well the larger ones will work with the acetate.

After Cuttlebugging a couple of designs, I thought it would make a great decorative element on a 3x3 note card box. First, I needed to cut out a square on the top cover large enough to show the cuttlebug design. Problem was, my square Nestabilities set is on back order and my 1-3/8" square punch was too small and it couldn't reach the center of the box. BUT, I solved the problem and I wanted to share it with my readers!

I was able to create a perfectly centered square cut-out, larger than my 1-3/8" punch, by using my 1-3/8" punch. If you're interested in how I did it, click here.

This is the finished 3x3 note card box that I made with the Cuttlebugged window. Tomorrow I will make the cards to go inside it.

Berry Bliss Birthday

One of my dearest friends just had a birthday and this is the card that I made for her. The sentiment says it all -- dear, kind, wonderful -- she's the best! Hope she likes it. Recipe here.
