Last Sneak Peek - Trick or Treat Mini Set

Today is the last day of sneak peeks at Hanna Stamps. Tonight at 9pm (est) is the release party and at midnight, you can begin purchasing these fabulous sets!

My last sneak peek is from the Trick or Treat set. I think Fall is my least favorite season, so I guess I decided to work on this set last because of that. But after I started making this little scarecrow, I had the best time decorating him. I decided to paper piece his clothes and add linen thread for his arms and legs.

Stamp: Trick or Treat, Things Hanna Would Say (Hanna Stamps)
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondack), Espresso (Adirondack), Brocade Blue, So Saffron (SU!), Copic Markers
Paper: Very Vanilla, Barely Banana, Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, Brocade Blue, Summer Picnic DSP
Acc: Oval Punch, Linen Thread, Pumpkin Grosgrain Ribbon, Buttons, Coluzzle, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Prima Flowers, Dew Drops, Paisley Cuttlebug

The second project I made with this set is a goody bag made with the popcorn favor box (you can find favor boxes on my other blog here). I used the other stamps that came with the Trick or Treat set to decorate this box. It's a great mini set for Harvest or for Halloween.

Stamp: Trick or Treat (Hanna Stamps)
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondack), Copic Markers
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Acc: 1/4" Circle Punch, Scallop Punch, Black/White Gingham Ribbon, Tombow Mono Adhesive, Popcorn Favor Box

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to visit the Hanna Forum at 9pm (est) tonight for the Release Party and maybe win some prizes!

Framed Pirate Hanna - Sneak Peek Day Three & CA is Shakin'

Pirate Hanna -- I am loving all these new Hanna Stamps sets! Kristi Ferro (owner) really outdid herself this month. Tomorrow is the Release Party at 9pm (est) and Kristi just announced that there will be lots of sets to be given away. So join in and play along!

The card I made doesn't show the whole picture of Pirate Hanna, but she's one happenin' chick! This set includes a bunch of accessories to compliment her "pirate" look (even a parrot!). I wasn't sure which sentiment to put on this card, so for now I left it blank, but I'll add something to it later.

Stamp: Pirate Hanna (Hanna Stamps), Finials and Frames (SU!)
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondack), Close to Cocoa (SU!), Copic Markers
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Back, Kraft (SU!), Crate Paper DP, Paper Pizazz DP
Acc: Nestibilities (Oval Scallops, Oval Regular), Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Sponge, Cuttlebug

Thanks for visiting!

Oh, I forgot to mention... I survived another California earthquake yesterday! This was the very first time I actually had damages to clean up. Every room in my house had things falling off the walls and shelves with several broken items. In the kitchen I had a lot of broken glass to clean up. My daughter and I were both at home when it happened -- she stayed upstairs while I was downstairs watching things fall and break. I still haven't opened my china cabinet. I see several of my china knocked down, but I'm too scared to see what's broken. But would I ever leave California? -- of course... not.

Teacher Bella Hanna

It's sneak peek week at Hanna Stamps! On August 1st, Hanna Stamps is releasing four new stamp sets and they are fabulous! Join the forum to see other sneak peeks from other design team members this whole week, then, join the release party over there this Thursday evening at 9pm (est) or 6pm if you're on the west coast, and play along and maybe you'll win some prizes.

Here's the card I made with the Teacher Hanna set. What a cool teacher, huh? The set comes with other words like "teach!" "inspire!" and "CREATE!" It also comes with a globe, "ABC," "123," notepaper, ruler, clock, eraser/chalk and pencil stamps. You get a lot with this set! I finally received my new SU! papers and inks and I just fell in love with the new Bella DSP. Needless to say, I had to use it right away! So this Teacher Hanna got a little shabby.

Stamp: Teacher Hanna
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Pitch Black (Adirondack), Copic Markers
Paper: Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Bella Rose DSP (SU!)
Acc: Rhinestone Brad, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Oval Punch, Blender Pen, Sponge, Dew Drops (Robins Nest), Prima Flowers, Lace Ribbon (unknown)

For Diana, Erika & Susanna -- oh, and Russ, too!

This card is dedicated to my Molly Stamps girlfriends. This was so much fun to make! When I saw this stamp, I just couldn't resist making it to depict the four of us! And I just had to try my new edge punch from Martha Stewart. Just one more thing to start collecting... my, oh, my! (The water bottle, coffee mug and wine glass are drawn free hand.)

Stamp: Sistahoodabellas (Stamping Bellas)
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondacks), Copics
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, Whisper White, DP (Joanne's)
Acc: Chocolate Satin Ribbon (SU), Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Zigzag Edge Emboss Punch (Martha Stewart).

Now, I couldn't leave out Russ, the man behind (literally) Molly Stamps. Here he is, the very talented, Russ Jones -- actor by day, stamp creator and slave driver to his "Fab Four" by night (just kidding, Russ!). Seriously, he's an awesome guy!

Stamp: Golfafella, Sentiment (Stamping Bella)
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondacks), Espresso (Adirondacks), Copics
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, Whisper White, DP (Joanne's)
Acc: Banana Grosgrain Ribbon (SU), Crop-a-Dile, Eyelets, Corner Punch, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Cuttlebug

Let's Get Together!

Here's a card that definitely says you love stamping! What better way to express that than with the fabulous sentiments that you can create with the Let's Get Together set from Molly Stamps. I love how you can come up with so many words with the mix-n-match capability of this set.

Set: Let's Get Together
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondack), Rose Red (SU), Copics
Paper: Groovy Guava, Blue Bayou, Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White, DP (unknown)
Acc: Boho Blossoms Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, 5 Petal Punch, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Cuttlebug, Nestablilities

Blush Always: Another Acetate Card

I received several requests for a tutorial on embossing on acetate. Well, after I did the tutorial, I had the acetate sheet left from it and didn't want the sheet to go to waste, so here's the card that I made with the embossed sheet.

I layered the acetate sheet on top of a piece of blush blossom to show the image more. After that, I couldn't stop layering! This card has seven layers! Wow... and I almost added one more to the base. If you'd like to see the tutorial, it's on Stampin' with Adela. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, everything I used on this card is from Stampin' Up! except for the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing.

One of a Kind Acetate

Embossing on acetate is not only tricky, but scary. I say "scary" because I'm always expecting it to warp, or worse, melt! But so far, I've been pretty lucky. The last time I embossed on acetate was on this bridal card I made several months ago and I remember how nervous I was every time I embossed the silhouette of that bride! That was my card for a swap group I belong to. I cringed every time I turned on that heat tool.

But this card I only had to make one of and it's for the HSC25 Acetate Challenge over at SCS's Hanna Forum. The rule is to use acetate on a card in any way. I'm also using this card for another challenge -- making a non-wedding card using the Bridal Hanna stamp set. I've taken the bouquet from the set to make an all occasion card.

Stamp: Bridal Hanna (Hanna Stamps), Tres Chic, One of a Kind
Paper: Blush Blossom, Mellow Moss, Whisper White, Acetate
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondack), Craft Whisper White, Copic Markers
Acc: Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, 1" Organdy Ribbon, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Corner Rounder Punch, Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinder), Stickles (Ranger)

Two Awards and a BRAK

For three months I get to have a "sistah" assigned to me and during those three months she and I get to know each other and spoil each other. After reading her "Wish List" (she's a consultant with another stamp company), I found out that she wanted SU! papers and ribbons. Well, knowing what to give her for her birthday was a no brainer...duh!

To house the ribbons, I decided to decorate a round CD tin with DSP, stickers from Simply Scrappin', felt flowers and a brad with her initial in the center of the brad. Inside the tin I put one yard each of several colors of SU! ribbons.

For her birthday card, I made a pocket card by sealing a large envy and trimming off one side to create an opening. I decorated it with a band and placed her initial in the center with the help of Just Rite (a favorite of mine) and bordering it with nesties (another fave). To create the card which I slipped inside the pocket, I made a "sort-of" tag card -- it's a tag card, just not shaped like one at the top. My "sistah" wanted some stamps from Stamping Bella, so I put two of the ones she had on her wish list inside her card. Along with her tin of ribbons and card, I also sent her SU! papers in every color.

AWARD...
I was blessed twice this week. Heather, from Heather's Coffee Break, and Caroline, from Caro's Kaartjes, both presented me this week with the Brillante Weblog! Thanks you two! But you know what makes me feel more blessed than getting this award from these two ladies? My growing friendship with them has meant more to me than any kind of recognition or awards. It's because of this "blogsphere" that I was able to "meet" so many new friends. I often tell my husband how blessed I am to have these friendships with people I've never even met, from the other side of the world, even! OK...I pass this award on to:

Trisha
Diana
NMBS Group Blog (group with several talented ladies)

Here are a few rules attached to this award. They are:

  • The winner places the Brillante Weblog logo on their blog
  • Place the link from whom you received the award on your blog
  • Send this award to at least 7 other bloggers, who stand out by their actuality, themes and design
  • Place the links of these blogs on yours
  • Leave a message on the blogs of your choice, so they know they've won.

Yummylicious Flourish Birthday

This 5x5 card was originally made for a Hanna Stamps challenge at SCS. It was to make a card with flourishes or doodles. Then, another challenge came up over at the Hanna Forum on SCS using the Hanna Bridal set, but with a non-wedding theme. One card, two challenges -- why not? Since I could always use birthday cards, I decided to take the wedding cake from the Bridal Hanna set and turn it into a yummylicious, triple layered, chocolate glazed birthday cake!

Using the bristle brush, I masked the cake to give a pink shadow around it. Then, I mixed Crystal Effects with cocoa re-inkers with a toothpick and spread the mixture over the cake like "frosting." To hide the wedding cake topper, I covered it with a faux "prima" by punching out and layering two flower punches from the Three for You Punch and adding a bling to the center. After stamping the flourishes on the corners of the Whisper White card stock, I used the Swiss Dot folder to emboss the paper with, but I accidentally ran it through the Cuttlebug up-side-down. The raised dots were on the back side rather than on the front side of the card. But I didn't want to re-do the whole thing over, so I kept it that way, which didn't look too bad after all. Next, to frame the cake, I used the square Nestability die. The layering is a little harder to describe, but if you look closely at the photo, I think you can see how I did it.

RECIPE:
Stamps: Stitched Exotics (SU!), Bridal Hanna and What Hanna Would Say (Hanna Stamps)
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Espresso (Adirondack)
Paper: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Berry Bliss DSP
Acc: Lg. and Reg. Oval Punches, Three for You Punch, Choc Chip Satin Ribbon, Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Bristle Brush, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Nestibility Die (Spellbinders), Swiss Dot Cuttlebug Folder (Provo Craft)

Meet Molly!

There's a new "gal" in town and he -- I mean "she" is so much fun! Molly Stamps is a brand new stamp company which will celebrate its first month since it was first introduced on June 9th. In my opinion, Molly is like no other character I've ever known in clear polymer. She's quirky, very entertaining and loads of laughs. The premier set has a clever way of using the words "stamp" and "scrap." The set includes several interchangeable endings to add to "stamp" and "scrap" so you actually have several sentiments in just this one set. I love this concept!! The set is called "Let's Get Together," so, go ahead and check it out and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I was so honored to be asked to join Molly Stamps' Design Team. It's so exciting to be a part of this great new company. Here are a couple of cards I made yesterday with the premier set. A second set will be released very, very soon and it's another "original" that I can't wait to play with!

For Beverly

Early Saturday morning, the mom of one of my daughter's best friends delivered a premature baby boy. One of his complications was that his lungs had not developed completely. The baby did not make it. We have my daughter's friend spend the night at our home because her mom has to stay at the hospital for two more days after her C-section. I can't even imagine going home from the hospital empty handed after giving birth.

Here's a simple card I made for her mom. I guess I wasn't thinking clearly when I made it because I originally wanted only two colors. I cringed when I saw it after taking the picture. I don't know how I ended up with four colors. I decided to post it anyway because I wanted to share the news about the baby and I liked the design of the card, even though I didn't like the colors I chose.

Recipe:
Stamp: Words of Wisdom, Stitched Exotics
Card Stock: Whisper White, Sof tSky, River Rock, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Espresso Adirondack
Acc: Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon, Rhinestone Brads, Photo Corner Punch, Dimensionals, Cuttlebug Folder

East Lake Hanna and a Challenge

HAPPY 4th of JULY! Most of us have the day off today and I wish I can spend my day the way Hanna is. She looks so relaxed -- or maybe the word is "lazy." This new Hanna Stamp set, appropriately named "Lazy Days," is now available, along with three other sets, at Hanna Stamps. I also added some pieces from the new Patio mini set to this card. The other two sets being released today are Bridal Hanna and Baseball Hanna. I have sneak peeks of those sets in my previous posts.

Wanna try to win a new Lazy Days set? Then here's a fun challenge for you: make a card/project using a summer/outdoor theme using Hanna Stamps or another stamp set. You have until Monday, July 7th, at 5PM (EST) to upload your creation. Please be sure to post at the Hanna Stamps Forum on SCS with the link to your creation and include the code HSJRP in the keyword section when uploading. The winner will receive the newly released Lazy Days stamp set as their prize and will be announced at the forum sometime Monday evening. So get stamping!

Fourth of July "Popcorn" Box

It's the eve of our Great Country's Day of Independence and I'm so grateful of the blessings God has given our country. I am so proud to be an American and happy that I'm free to worship the God that I chose to follow.

In honor of the day of firecrackers, picnics and whatnot's, I was inspired to make this favor box out of a "popcorn" box. It measures about 3-3/4" tall, 2-1/2" sq. on top and 1-1/2" sq. at the bottom. I punched the sides with the small SU! star punch and punched out extras and attached them to silver cords to dangle off the front sign and off the two ribbon handles.

The sentiment in the front is made with JustRite stamp set, which I just love using! I then cut it out using the oval nestabilities die. When I attached the white scalloped sign to the red plain one, I puffed up the while card stock first for interest.

You can fill this box with just about anything: candies, little gifts, gift cards, or use it for decorating a party. If you'd like more information on where to get these "popcorn" boxes, you can find them here. Thanks for stopping by.

Batter-Up Hanna...A Sneak Peek

Here is another Hanna Stamps sneak peek-- Baseball Hanna! Look how confident she looks. And what a diva! Just take a look at those shoes! Well, this mini set does come with four other stamps besides Hanna, including appropriate shoes for playing the game. I made this card for a masking challenge over at the Hanna forum at Split Coast. If you haven't tried masking, it's quite simple. Here's a brief intro on how I did the masking on this card:

I stamped Hanna twice. The first one was for the card itself and the second one I cut out to use for masking the original. I placed the "cut-out Hanna" over the "card Hanna." I then proceeded to stamp the home plate on top of her feet. When I removed the "cut-out Hanna," I had the "card Hanna" standing on top of the home plate perfectly! I then put "cut-out Hanna" over the "card Hanna" again and this time I also put cut-out home plate over the stamped home plate. Using the stipple brush (or you can use which ever medium you feel comfortable using, like sponge or daubers), I began coloring in the background sand with close to cocoa and the sky with bashful blue. When you remove the "cut-out Hanna," the "card Hanna" will be left uncolored. You can now color her as you wish. That's masking in a nutshell.
