For the Tile Man

Just a quick post for today... my headache is killing me again! Anyway, I've had this image of Riley colored and just waiting for a card to attach it to. Originally, I had planned to use it for a card for a little boy, then I remembered about my friend's husband who is in the tile business. What a great stamp to use for someone in that business. This is Mason Riley from Hanna Stamps and I thought it would be perfect for a birthday card for a hard working man. Because it was already colored, it didn't take long to make the rest of the card -- I just used two Cuttlebug folders and hemp cord. The initials were cut with my Sizzix.

Beginning this Friday is Hanna Stamps' sneak peek for July and I'll have two brand new Rileys to share.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Easy and Elegant Baroque

Here is another very easy card to make. I made eight of these for my neighbor who wanted some Thank You cards in Spanish. I used one of my favorite sets of all time, Carte Postale... LOVE that set!

Tip: To emphasize the sentiment, punch out an extra oval out of black (or any dark coordinating shade); cut in half and separate piece slightly. Adhere to the back of the sentiment with both sides visible.

Stamp: Carte Postale
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, Black, White
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondack)
Acc: Oval Punch, Cuttlebug Folders, Bling, Computer for Sentiment

Thanks for visiting and have a great, cool weekend -- it's 92ยบ right now and I'm so grateful for A/C!

Droopy Bloom

It may be summer now, but I love this "Springy" silhouette stamp from Purple Onion Designs. This card is one of the five cards that I made for the POD challenge over at Caardvarks. If you haven't played our challenges yet, you'll want to join this one! The prize is a $50 gift certificate to Purple Onion Designs! You have until midnight, July 3rd to play along.

Okay, since I've had no sleep for the past 27 hours, I'm making this post very short so that I can take a little snooze. Thanks for stopping by!

3D Tuesday Challenge - Bookmark It!

It's 3D Tuesday at Paper Craft Planet! The last few weeks have been very hard for me, so I wanted to do something quite simple and easy. The challenge this week is to make a ribbon bookmark from scraps. I'm sure we all have leftover pieces of ribbons, buttons and other embellishments. For the bookmark above, I simply attached the silk flower on the ribbon end, punched a hole in the center and added a button.

For the monogrammed bookmark, I used the label hardware (Hodge Podge Hardware from SU!). You can put a photo in it, a sentiment or just an initial.

There are no set rules as to how long the ribbons should be... just have fun decorating it with things you already have -- I even used a key! Make sure to tag your photo 3d17 when uploading to PCP.

Another Great Caardvarks Challenge!

It's time once again for another fabulous Caardvarks Challenge! Purple Onion Designs is our sponsor this week and what a great prize they have for the winner! The challenge is to make a window card and my Reindeer card above is my sample using POD stamps. It's never too early to start making Christmas cards; right? If you're wondering whether the card opens -- yes, it does. When I was trying to take a picture of it, you could only see part of the sentiment, so I had to close the card as much as I could.

Supplies:
All paper and ribbon are SU!
Cut-outs and frame from Nestabilities
Branch punch from Martha Stewart
Dew Drops

CHALLENGE
This time we're challenging you to create a window card! Show us what you can do and do it by July 3rd at Midnight (Pacific Time). Link your card to Mr. Linky located at the Caardvarks Challenge Blog . While you're there, be sure to check out the other samples by the Caardvarks Crew!

PRIZE
A $50 shopping spree at Purple Onion Designs!

PROMOTION
Purple Onion Designs will also be offering 25% off for the length of this challenge. Enter code Caardvarks at checkout.

DEADLINE
Link your entry to the Caardvarks Challenge Blog via Mr. Linky by July 3rd at Midnight (Pacific Time).

Here are a couple more cards using POD stamps.
The pink card above uses the Damask stamp. After stamping the image onto Vanilla card stock, I overlaid the image with Mulberry paper and used the Nestabilities die to cut an oval. I added a button and half pearls for interest. Card stock is from SU! and pattern paper from Melissa Frances.

This card was so easy to make. I stamped the Drooping Flower stamp twice -- the second one I ran through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dot folder, then punched out part of the image with a 1-3/4" circle punch. Adhere over the first image with dimensionals. To add a splash of color, I just added red card stock behind the image, just enough to outline it.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Stamp for a Cure

Breast Cancer Awareness month isn't until October, but   Kristi (Hanna Stamps owner) wanted to bring out her new set, Breast Cancer Hanna, early because of the three-day breast cancer walk coming soon to her area in Detroit. It's a perfect set to give the walkers a chance to make thank you cards, or help with their fund raising events.

If you take a look at the set, you'll see that it's not only a great set for breast cancer awareness, but with all the extra images, there are a lot of possibilities.  Click on the link to the set and you'll see what I mean!

Stamp: Breast Cancer Hanna
Paper:
Neenah White, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette DSP
Ink: Pitch Black (Adirondack), Copic Markers
Acc: 1/4" Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, SU! Ribbon (Flirty Set), Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Folder, Small Oval Punch, Martha Stewart Border Punch, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

One of the Hanna girls gave us a link to a site that lists the colors of the awareness ribbons and what they stand for. The second card that I made with the Breast Cancer Hanna  is actually for me... kind of selfish, huh?  Well, I decided to put the colors of the ribbons that pertain to me, or are important to me (according to what's listed on that site).  For instance, the green represents the donor awareness ribbon (among other things). I believe strongly in donating whatever organs I have that might help some one's life.  Burgundy is for my ever present headaches.  Black, for mourning -- my mother and nephew.  Purple, for my father's Alzheimer's Disease that is affecting not only him, but pretty much the entire family. For several months now, he can't remember my name... sometimes he doesn't even know who I am.  Yellow is for his POW experience which I am so proud of when he talks about it -- he's my hero.  Teal is for my food allergies -- ugh!

Make sure you check out the set. It's really cute! Thanks, Kristi, for another great Hanna set!

3D Tuesday Challenge - Father's Day

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for Paper Craft Planet's 3D Tuesday Challenge! I wish I could take credit for this handsome gift bag, but it was actually made by our guest host, Lyn Bernatovich.

With Father's Day around the corner, let's give it that special touch by creating a custom gift bag with your someone special in mind. Whatever inspires you, make it funky, funny, silly, weird, traditional, or radical! If he's a golfer, make a v-neck sweater and a polo, if he's more casual, lose the tie, if he's a James Bond fan, make a tux! If he's a biker, well, you're on your own there. There are numerous possibilities to fit your guy.

As far as the pocket tuck-ins, think about using photos of your kids...! Or, better yet, have your kids give him the bag. Don't have kids or they're not home anymore? Tuck a photo of your pet in the pocket. No kids, no pets? Tuck something handwritten from you in the pocket. A Kleenex stuffed upside down into the pocket looks just like an ascot!

This handsome gift packaging was made by our 3D Tuesday Challenge guest host, Lyn Bernatovich. If you'd like her template and complete directions, just click HERE

Have fun creating! Remember to upload your photo to PCP and tag it 3d15 in order to get into the album 'cuz we all want to see your creative talents!

Make sure you check out PCP's weekly newsletter, The Daily {Paper Craft} Planet. There's always something going on that you probably shouldn't  miss!

Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful day!

Caardvarks DDD (3-D!) Challenge

It's Caardvarks Challenge time again and boy did I enjoy making this one! This 5x7 Expandable File is just one of many kits from Club Scrap. The kit for this expandable file comes with everything pre-cut... just add your own embellishments.

After making the file folder from the kit, I simply took out one of my Simply Scrappin'® kit from Stampin' Up! and adhered some of the stickers to the front of the folder. With a neutral color Copic marker, I colored a couple of hodgepodge hardware and adhered them to the center of the round stickers, then I tied some ribbons, added flowers and a trinket pin (Maya Road) to hold the bow in place -- and that's all there is to it!

Here are the details for this challenge:

CHALLENGE:
Create a 3-D paper crafting project. It can be an interactive card, book, gift bag, trinket box, home decor item, altered anything... Have your *NEW* lovely linked to Caardvark

PRIZE:
The winning card creator will receive an assortment of Club Scrap goodness including unmounted rubber stamps, a POP (pound of paper), card blanks, projects (like this expandable file) and LOTS more.

DEADLINE:
June 17th at midnight PST
Check out the Caardvarks blog to see what the other design members made with their Club Scrap kits -- they're outstanding!

SUMMER -- Finally!!

POOL PARTY!

Today, one of my daughters will take her last final at school and next Thursday will be my other daughter's last day at her school. I have been waiting to be able to sleep in and not have to get up at 6:15 a.m. and waiting for the end of carpooling to two different schools. In other words, I am more than ready for summer vacation to begin! Which brings me to my cards here. The theme at Paper Craft Planet this month is "Summer."

The stamp set I used for this card is from Hanna Stamps Pool Party. Paper, ribbon and punches are from Stampin' Up! Other accessories include Bazzil. Copic Markers and Stickles.

JUST "POOLIN'" AROUND

Here's another Summer card, which I had left the sentiment out only because I wasn't sure whether to personalize this for a little boy or not, or just give it to someone else and add a sentiment. The stamp I used for this card is Swimmer Riley from Hanna Stamps. Paper and ribbon are from Stampin' Up! Also used are Copic Markers and Dew Drops.

RILEY WITH A HIDDEN AGENDA

This one is from last month's release, Fins Riley from Hanna Stamps . I made this one with a secret money envelope hidden behind the picture. The ribbon on the side serves as an embellishment and also a handle to pull out the secret compartment.

Okay, it's almost 4:00 in the morning and you can't imagine how many mistakes I've made typing, trying to finish up this post. Several times I've found my finger bad landed on a key and that letter on the computer screen typed repetitively. I've even typed parts of my dream as I'm falling asleep and nodding off. (Last paragraph I wrote about pies in the kitchen.) Have a wonderful day and I shall be back after I nap for two hours before I have to wake up at 6:15.

A 3D Truck and a ScrapStreet.com Card!

Here's a fun 3D Tuesday Challenge from Paper Craft Planet: decorate a truck from a template by Clear & Simple Stamps! The sample they have is of a UPS truck and it's a CUTE one, which you have got to see! So, hop on over to the 3D Tuesday Challenge Group at PCP to get all the info for this challenge.
Well, summer has been on my mind a lot lately so, I decided to make an ice cream truck out of my truck template.  Those adorable double scoops of ice cream stamp is from Taylored Expressions Sweet Celebrations.  The paper is a retired SU! DSP and the inks are Copics and Espresso (Adirondack).  When uploading your card to the PCP gallery, please use the tag 3d14 so it will go into the correct gallery.

Now on to the Thank You card ...

Sometimes I get so busy that I forget to appreciate the talented people I work with, until I finally sit back and see an article put nicely together and then I see the whole picture. ScrapStreet.com Magazine is doing a feature on the Caardvarks crew this month! It's so exciting! We've been waiting for this to come out for some time now.  Each of us on the design team was asked to make a Thank You card for the article and this was my submission. I have to say that the Caardvarks are an awesome group of ladies. I've seen all their cards before, but seeing them together in a publication puts it in a whole different perspective. They all look fabulous! Go check them out and see what I'm talking about.

Stamposaurus

Tonight you will finally see the complete Hanna Stamps June sets that the Hanna girls and I have been giving you sneak peeks of for the last couple of days! The Release Party will be at the SCS Hanna Stamps Forum from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm (eastern). Join us for lots of chatting, challenges and prizes!

I decided to make two very different cards with the same set, Stamposaurus. This card is on the feminine side. I wasn't sure which sentiment to use, so for now, I left it blank. I'm not sure if I should save it for a little girl's birthday or save it as a card for one of my friends. Paper is Neenah White, Certainly Celery, Melissa Francis PP. Inks are Espresso (Adirondack) and Copic and Old Olive Ink. Accessories include: Old Olive 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, Butterfly punch (Martha Stewart), Dew Drops, Primas and Nestabilities.

This card is also from the Stamposaurus set.  I was planning on putting the main image of the set on the front of this card, but at the last minute, water got on it and was ruined so, here's the alternate, which I had already colored. The card stocks are Neenah White, River White, Cranberry Crisp, Old Olive and Paper Crate PP. Inks are Espresso (Adirondack) and Copics. Accessories are Scallop Oval Punch, 1/16" Circle Punch and Red Twine. By the way, the main image is this huge skeletal statue of a dinosaur.
